Delft Design Labs
For TU Delft, the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE) I initiated and developed together with Prof. Pieter Desmet the Delft Design Labs for cultivating Design, Science & Innovation. These labs are each focussed on a specific societal relevant theme and overlapping groups of (graduate) students together with one or two principal researchers do research and innovation projects. Companies and non-profit organizations are involved to co-create the right assignments and knowledge with the students and researchers. The principal researchers combine all projects with their own work for research output, the participating organizations are getting new concepts for products and services and the students are contributing to research and society by their graduation work. Everyone involved learns how to work in multi-stakeholder settings to achieve common goals.
& CardioLab
At the same time I was working on the the Delft Design Labs with Pieter, I was working with Prof. Maaike Kleinsmann on CardioLab. This initiative started a year before when I was approched by Hartstichting and Philips seperately for collaboration with TU Delft IDE. I connected the dots and after creating a five year research and innovation program together, we signed the labagreement and CardioLab was born. It is very succesful and has even produced a YES!Delft Start-up: Praxa Sense.
